The following was submitted by Dot, an official of the Australian Carriage Driving Society:
"Attached is a photo of Susan Carter driving Razzamattaz,
her part-Hackney
mare, by Dunolly Emperor, owned by Mrs. Mary Willsallen, a very experienced and highly respected Hackney and pony breeder from
Australia.
Susan owns the dam, Jeddah, who is an old-fashioned solid cart horse. Jeddah produces wonderful strong foals.
Razzie has a very 'look at me' appearance, and better still, she has lovely
movement.
Susan has qualified to compete at Gladstone but the Australian Carriage Driving Society (ACDS) has yet to
make a decision on who will make up the team.
To date we have five members (four of whom have already qualified) of the Australian Carriage Driving Society interested in competing at Gladstone so the decision on who will actually be in the team will be a tough one. Three out of five leaves some disappointed people.
There are a number of Hackneys in CDEs in Australia - single horses, pairs of horses, pairs of ponies and so it goes on. They are a very popular breed because of their
intelligence and style. I do believe however, that Hackneys are suited to all drivers/riders. Of course the
breed is very suited to the show ring."
